Abstract

Objective:  The purpose of this case study is to review the positive health outcomes following chiropractic care of a two-year-old boy with birth trauma, developmental delays and otitis media with effusion (OME).

Clinical Features:  A young boy first presented due to an altered ability to crawl and developmental delays. Physical examination revealed birth trauma, cranial distortions, retained primitive reflexes, and otitis media with effusion.

Interventions and Outcomes:  He was treated with chiropractic care utilizing Diversified technique and SOT cranial technique. Cross crawl exercises were recommended as an adjunct to care.  After six chiropractic adjustments, his symptoms began to improve.

Conclusions:  This case describes the chiropractic care of a child with OME and developmental delays.  Chiropractic can be an option for children suffering with such conditions.
