Abstract

Objective: To discuss the results of a female patient with a history of infertility receiving chiropractic care for the correction of vertebral subluxations and to review the literature on infertility and chiropractic care.

Clinical Features: A 31-year-old female presented to a chiropractic clinic for care and revealed she had been trying to become pregnant for over a year unsuccessfully.

Intervention and Outcomes: Vertebral subluxations were found in multiple segments, and specific adjustments were delivered using Gonstead protocol. After six visits over 34 days the patient reported being pregnant and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

Conclusion: After experiencing infertility, this woman was able to conceive and successfully carry a full-term pregnancy without any other medical interventions. Chiropractic care should be considered as potential co-management with patients experiencing infertility prior to more costly and invasive procedures. Further research regarding chiropractic and infertility is encouraged.
