Abstract
Objective: The objective of this case report is to discuss the positive health outcomes following chiropractic in a patient suffering from long standing essential tremors.
Clinical Features: A 75-year-old male presents for evaluation with a history of essential tremors that have progressively worsened within the last four years. Examination revealed vertebral subluxations in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.
Intervention and Outcomes: The patient was examined for vertebral subluxation using radiographs, range of motion, and neurological and orthopedic testing according to Diversified and Thompson protocols. The patient was then adjusted 3 times per week for 4 weeks and further reassessed on the 12th visit for his response to his chiropractic schedule. At the reassessment the patient reported an improvement in his essential tremors.
Conclusion: Chiropractic care resulted in significant decrease of essential tremors for this patient. More research is recommended to explore the benefits of chiropractic in this population.
