Improvement in Quality of Life and Improved Cervical Curve in an 11-year-old Child with Asthma Following Chiropractic Intervention: A Case Study

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this case study is to report on an increased quality of life and improvement in spinal structure and neurological function in an asthmatic patient chiropractic care with the Chiropractic Biophysics Technique (CBP).  

 

Clinical Features: An 11-year-old girl presented with the diagnosis of chronic allergies, sinus problems, dry skin, leg cramps  and  asthma which was previously managed with pharmaceuticals.  The chiropractor noted poor posture, abnormal cervical curve and subluxation.

 

Intervention and Outcome: Within the first one and a half months of care the patient had a total of 27 visits utilizing Chiropractic Biophysics Technique. During care the patient was able to discontinue her medications, no longer has allergic symptoms and can breathe normally. Her sinus, skin problems and leg cramps also resolved. There were improved structural and functional changes concomitant with reduction of vertebral subluxation.

 

Conclusion: The chiropractic care of a patient with abnormal spinal curves, asthma, and allergies resulted in resolution of the symptoms, concomitant with normalizing of lung function and improvement of the cervical curve and posture.  Further research is highly recommended.
