Abstract

Objective: To present the clinical objectives, components, and considerations of NetworkSpinal care and situate the approach within its historical development and research informed evolution.

Background: NetworkSpinal is a humanistic, salutogenic, and integrally informed chiropractic application developed by the author and practiced worldwide by Doctors of
Chiropractic. It represents the current evolution of Network Chiropractic (1983–1995) and Network Spinal Analysis (1995–2017), with the designation NetworkSpinal adopted in 2017.

Methods: This descriptive paper characterizes the clinical framework of NetworkSpinal care, including its assessment considerations, clinical procedures, and objectives. The discussion draws upon historical and conceptual publications, survey research on wellness and quality of life, biomedical signal processing investigations of spinal wave phenomena, and contemporary approaches to practice member and practitioner outcome assessment.

Clinical Components: NetworkSpinal care is individualized according to the practice
member’s energy state, Season of Wellbeing, Energetic Intelligence, and sensorimotor Triad of Change. Energy state is the primary determinant of force application. Clinical procedures include assessment of spinal and neural integrity and adverse mechanical spinal cord tension patterns, followed by low-force entrainment at Spinal Gateways. The approach incorporates assessment of spinal wave phenomena and changes in self-reported wellness, quality of life, and practitioner-observed outcomes.

Conclusions: NetworkSpinal represents a research-informed evolution of earlier Network chiropractic applications, integrating established clinical procedures with an expanded framework for individualized assessment and care. Its objectives are aligned with the conceptual definition of vertebral subluxation adopted by the Australian Spinal Research Foundation in 2017. The clinical components and considerations presented provide a framework for practitioners, educators, and researchers and identify opportunities for further investigation of the approach and its proposed mechanisms and outcomes.
