Abstract
Objective: To discuss the health outcomes following chiropractic care of a patient with vertebral subluxations and Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS).
Clinical Presentation: A 38-year-old male presented with complaints of upper back pain, neck pain, left groin and bilateral buttock pain, right patella and right medial heel pain. Medical care consisted of prior prescription with bisphosphonates (i.e., Pamidronate and Alendronate).
Intervention and Outcome: The patient was cared for with mechanically assisted adjusting instrument (ArthroStim®) and Diversified adjustments along with home exercises. The patient reported relief of pain symptoms, increased mobility and improved posture. The patient was cared for a total of 16 visits over a one year period with reported benefits of care as described. The patient continues to attend care on a periodic basis.
Conclusions: This case report provides supporting evidence that patients suffering from AS may benefit from chiropractic care.
